Episode 12: The Final Part

The Final Episode: 'Seleccion Transatlantica' feat. Matias Aguayo y Capracara by Capracara

For the final episode of 'Seleccion Transatlantica', I collaborated with producer/DJ/gym bunny La Treece. Those lucky enough to have been at the Comeme party in Chile, last year, would have caught his awesome set. So we decided to finish off with a track that sounds like an old school house track with some vocal clips from La Treece himself.

The final master of the project is now in the hands of Daniel Maloso, who will add the final treatments in preparation for the BumBumBox party in Newcastle.

So this is almost the end of it, one more track from you and then we should think about how we finish it in detail as next week we gonna play. i suggest we should turn it to the hands of maloso once you have recorded the last bit. we should be quick though so he has time. on the phone we can talk about what he can do, there will be some surprises left until next week...

Episode 10 (Capracara)

-1

For this stage of Seleccion Transatlantica I have had the pleasure of collaborating with Alejandro Paz. When not remixing the likes of DJs Pareja (for their forthcoming release on History Clock), he can be found DJing with Matias and the rest of the Comeme crew in either Chile or Spain. For this 'episode' Alejandro and I swapped some audio and came up with an idea that mixes reggaeton rhythms with house.

EPISODE 9 is here! by bumbumbox

This time Ana Helder joined with a rhythm that always stops and changes, i added beats that work in a similar way. on and off and on and off...

Episode 8 (Capracara) ...

This episode has me working with a track produced alongside colleague/DJ/producer and Cómeme-affiliate, Nathan Gregory Wilkins (who I am also involved in with the label History Clock). This frenetic disco-techno rhythm is an example of some sampling-on-the-fly techniques that we did together. Matias (congratulations on your marriage to the lovely Avril, btw!) and I will be discussing the next few steps and we are both very keen to start bringing in new ideas and alternative approaches to building up project. Updates to follow...

SELECTION NUMBER 7 by bumbumbox

Seven, in which i noticed that there is parts i don't like anymore, and others i love more and more, and also i love doing this, just trying, whatever happens, we can surprise ourselves if there is no expectations. on this chapter diegors joined us with a riddim, i put some more on top, takes us somewhere where i wanna be. We should meet and sort things out. Long distance relationships are impossible, yet they can create a whole fantasy. I love your last track, but we should sit together on it soon, i think rhythmwise it can be more simple and more effective. stay good, m

SELECCIÓN TRANSATLANTICA 06 CAPRACARA Y AGUAYO by Capracara

The sixth part of Selección Transatlantica has me playing with some of my favourite pieces of kit and the primitive electronic instruments that I love and have shaped the Capracara sound - the Roland 303 for the acid bass line that you hear in the track, and the Roland 727 which I LOVE the percussion sounds of! There's also sample used that you MAW fans may notice (also an inspiration for the image on the left!) and a vocal from a UK-based artist who I will reveal in time...

SELECCIÓN TRANSATLANTICA 05 CAPRACARA Y AGUAYO by bumbumbox

Now a little late, as i had to cross the atlantic this week :) but tonight philipp gorbachev came along with a rhythm he sang on top. we played some rhythms on top with the yamaha drumpad. this is quite long and open, so you can put something on top of it or mix it earlier or whatever you like. adding vocals to the parts is a good idea but i have to still setup my studio and i think we still should prolong the mix we are doing a little

Episode 4 (Capracara)

The latest track that I've added is a rhythm that follows an idea that Matias and I have been discussing - to add a vocal part over the top. It's a more of a basic rhythm that has minimal arrangement, thus more space for a vocal. Both Matias and I have been discussing who we would like to ask to do this and more will be revealed as the weeks unfold...

SELECCIÓN TRANSATLANTICA 03 CAPRACARA Y AGUAYO by bumbumbox

this is our 3rd step in which i added am edit from los jaivas i did, somehow it fitted the mood of the second half of the capracara track, what you think, jonny? i think you should mix something into it and then we step further, after making a long mix of things and then later improving it by asking diego, ana, rebo etc to participate somehow...
